One of the most popular form of kalanchoe species grown today is kalanchoe blossfeldiana and its many hybrid plants. Kalanchoe blossfeldiana plants grow up to 2 feet tall and as wide. They have large, leathery leaves about 2 1/2 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide. The leaf edges are usually lightly scalloped and may have a slight tint of red or other color. Some hybrid plants have smooth edges and different colors on the leaf.
Now even the least psychic person, going up to a large tree, should be able to pick up something of the personality (mood) of that tree. How does the tree make you feel happy, sad, loving, jolly, heavy? Can you pick up its sex: sense a male or female presence or its age: young and vigorous or old and mellow?
Sometimes, plants attract pests. Apply pesticides but preferably natural ones. Although indoor plants do not require direct sunlight, but make sure they get at least bright natural light. Please, dont forget to sprinkle water twice a day for terrace plants. In case of potted plants, allow excess water to run out from the bottom of the pot into a saucer placed below. Allow it to be a common practice that plants should be pruned occasionally to remove damaged parts and to help fresh growth. Make it a point that plants should never be permitted to wither. You can also cover the top layer of the soil with mulch (decaying leaves, bark or compost, spread around or over a plant to enrich or insulate the soil), containing wooden pieces, twigs, dead plant leaves etc. It will not only provide extra fertilizer for the soil, but will also help retain moisture. Small pebbles may also be used to cover the soil from losing moisture. Sometimes, to make the leaves shine, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth.
The secret of successful dyeing is called mordanting, which is a fancy French term for preprocessing the material by boiling it in an alum or other metallic salt solution to make it take color better. This method significantly improved the color intensity and color fastness.
